Whistler Health Care Centre charges the
following:
Patient Charges for Services
Received
- Patients with Valid
British Columbia or Other Provincial Medical Insurance Plans: Physician fees for patients
with valid BC Medical Insurance are covered by the Medical Services Plan. The plan will
cover lab and x-ray costs. Examples of costs not covered by the Medical Services Plan from
any province include: crutches, fiberglass casts, cast protectors, shoulder or knee
immobilizers and x-ray copies and ambulance service.
- Out of Province patients
should note that your previous provincial coverage is only valid for 3 months from
departure from your province. It takes 3 months to get British Columbia Medical coverage
therefore you MUST apply immediately upon moving to B.C.
Out of Country & Uninsured BC and
Canadian Residents
- Expect to pay for the
services received while a patient in our care. The British Columbia Medical Association
(BCMA) has established guidelines for charges to patients. The doctor's fee is set by
guidelines established by BCMA. This amount varies depending on the time and the
procedures required.
- Pursuant to section
4.12.9 of the Hospital Programs Policy Manual, hospitals in British Columbia are required
to charge a surcharge to non-residents of Canada. These charges help cover the overhead to
run the facility.
- Diagnostic Tests
(laboratory and x-ray)
Cost varies depending on amount and types of tests performed if you have any concerns
about costs please discuss these with your physician prior to the test.
